Sky and Loki Update

It could still be fungal as I suggested before, only ringworm will show up on cultures, the broken back I suggested would not.

I agree with helen; it could still be fungal.

I had a similar experience with Nerys a couple of summers back. Her bald spot in the middle of the back eventually went away after I did some mild fungal baths when ivermectin didn't work and the lab tests came back negative for mites and ringworm.

Teddies are particularly prone to skin problems like fungal or dry skin because of the much denser hair, which doesn't allow for good air flow near to the skin.

Yes I remember you mentioned it would only show for Ringworm.

I mentioned broken back when they saw him but they didn't really talk about it... Is it quite unheard of? Is there something I can buy online for him to bathe him in?

I believe that what Loki may have is an overload of Candida known as Candidiosis and this needs to be treated with oral fungal medication such as Itrafungol, otherwise he will become overwhelmed by it and other health issues will appear. I have some information I can put together to explain it better, but I have been through this with my own herd and oral fungal meds stopped it in in it's tracks for now at least. If you would like me to put the information together please let me know.

We posted at the same time, I will get some information together for you, but he should be bathed in Alphosyl or Polytar shampoo followed by Imaverol dips. Peter Gurney came up with the phrase broken back. There would also be some dietary recommendations too, things like wheat can be heating and cause the Candida to increase.

I've emailed you Helen.. any information would be most appreciated! I just want him back to normal

Sky will still most likely be having a renal flush out soon. I have completely changed his diet etc but hopefully this will help stop the grit developing after the flush.

Poor Sky and Loki, I really hope they will get better soon. Lots of healing vibes to them both x

Right I've been emailing a very helpful Helen, I really do appreciate it! and Loki will be starting on Daktarin from tomorrow and I have also ordered Polytar and Imaverol. Couldn't believe it could be this bad, poor Loki :(

As for Sky... will be saving over the coming weeks to get his renal flush - Poor piggy.

Loki started his weekly Imaverol dip on Friday, lets see how hes goes over the next few weeks. He has also been on Daktarin twice daily. I have been receiving a lot of help from Helen and a big thank you to her!

Best of fluck with the imaverol. It has certainly helped me when I had ringworm problems with my piggies last year.

Hope it helps, keep on going - ringworm can be stubborn!

You're welcome, glad I could help.

Great news! Good that you have got on top of it!

Hes still quite bald but plenty of hair regrowth too! Hopefully he'll look like a teddy again soon :) Cant believe it and thanks again Helen! x

Good to hear! Thankfully, hair grows back quickly and he will be as good as new in 2-3 weeks time! The hair grows back in the order it has fallen out.
