Sky was on the Baytril for a possible URI, he seemed to be okay for a few days but now he is being to squeak again when weeing.
There has never been any blood but I'm worried he may have a stone
Problem is my vets round here are quite crap...

Can anyone recommend me a good vets in the Huntingdon or Norwich area as I really want him to see somebody who knows their stuff!

He is still eating fine, though drinking a little more than usual. He hasn't dropped weight.

Thanks

Taverham vets hun, cant recommend them highly enough. We have always used them for piggies and hamsters with excellent service.

xx

Thank you, I've also been recommended a vets in Huntingdon and St Neots, I'll get him booked in next week, depending on where I am xx

Hope it's not a stone Hannah, could be a stubborn UTI, but an X-ray will hopefully put your mind at ease.

Lots of love to Sky x x

I'm sorry to hear this, my Parsnips got a bladder stone - baytril didn't work for the uti but then the vet tried seprin and that's helped clear it up a lot, Parsnips perked up a lot. He's on another course now and is responding to it well.

I'm not wanting Parsnip to have surgery, he's nearly 5 and has dental issues (peg teeth that grow at a silly rate) he's been losing weight too so I don't feel the surgerys fair on him.

My vets said they are a seeing more bladder stones and they are a worry, having a guinea savvy vet really helps so hope you manage to find one.

Septrin and Metacam are great meds. for any bladder issues but an X-ray is the only guaranteed way of being certain.
I have a bladder boy, currently on these meds. and x-ray booked despite the vet (exotic) saying he doesn't think there's another stone there as he palpated his bladder and couldn't feel one.
So sorry you are dealing with this, a great vet makes all the difference...I'm usually in a right state when any of our piggies fall ill but since we've used this vet, am much calmer as they are excellent and they have reassured me that bladder problems can be managed so feel at ease for once.
Cut out all calcium veggies i.e. parsley, kale, spinach and I give my boy more wet stuff now as he's not a great drinker but is weeing well so helps flush his bladder and will resort to syringing fluids if need be. Was diagnosed with sludge on Friday almost two years after he had a stone removed.
Healing vibes for Sky but definitely ask for Septrin and Metacam rather than the horrid Baytril :( :)

Thank you both, the vets around here are rubbish and I am sick of being flogged off with Baytril!
So now that I'm moving I want a good vets and I spoke to Laura Humphreys as she is in Huntingdon and she recommended a vets in St Neots so he will be going there and hopefully they'll do a much better job at helping Sky.

Hope both your piggies are better soon!

I had to take Sky to the crappy vets yesterday as I couldn't wait until we'd moved. They have given me Baytril again for ten days, I tried to get something else, Septrin, but they wouldn't!
They gave me Metacam at least! So could have been worse.
I will be taking him to a vets in St Neots next week, may need an x-ray if this problem doesn't improve.
He has slightly lost weight also. I hope the Metacam kicks in soon.

Hope you can get Sky sorted soon. At least you'll have access to a decent vets next week for any further follow ups, but hopefully it won;t be needed. Healing vibes to Sky x

How's Sky doing Hannah? Any improvement? x

Sky is back at the vets on Thursday when I take Loki. I heard him squeaking again this morning when he tried to wee :/
He doesn't do it when its on the Baytril... I am hoping they could give him something better, such as Septrin and that its just a bad UTI and nothing more :(

Poor Sky, I was just about to ask about him when looking at Flora's photo thread.

Hoping a different AB will do the trick, Septrin has always had more success in our household with UTI's. Let us know how he gets on, fingers crossed for him and lots of healing vibes x

I'm glad I heard him squeaking this morning, I did say to him that if he still wasn't right that he needed to let me know by Thursday as his old friend Loki was at the vets, he must of listened.
I hope he will be sorted soon, poor piggy xx
