Senior Guinea Pig
This morning we had to say goodbye to Amy. On Thursday she was slightly off her veg and by Friday morning she wasn't interested in food at all so off she went to Simon in Northampton. He found pus coming out of her and suspected a very bad case of cystitis, though Pyometra could not be ruled out. He thought though that there would be more pus with that. She came home on Sulfatrim and Metacam and we were able to use Tramadol if needed. That evening she still wasn't eating for herself so was being syringe fed. This morning we found her very flat and with very laboured breathing. We rushed her straight to the local vet who agreed that she was shutting down and let us stay with her while she was PTS.
Amy was just over 5 and came to us from the Pets at Home adoption centre. She had been accidentally mixed on her transport to the store so had been on pregnancy watch. She was 16 weeks old. Over the years she became a very well respected member of the herd and was very affectionate with her herd mates, especially the skinnies Katie and Mary. She was always first to dive in the clean hay and loved chin rubs.
Sweet dreams beautiful angel, I hope Moo was waiting for you at the bridge. We will love you always.
