On Wednesday night, 11 November, my gorgeous, sweet Meryn gave up her fight to stay with me.
It’s particularly hard to come to terms with as she was born here (accidental pet shop pregnancy) and has therefore always had good and proper care - she was only 3 years and 4 days old.
She was always her own person/pig; did her own thing and wasn’t terribly affectionate until the last couple of weeks of her life, when she seemed to seek me out more and was happy being cuddled - especially when she was trying to avoid syringe feeding!
Before that, after I lost Darcy and was introducing Rosie as a third piggy, Meryn gave her hell! She was very, very determined that the new imposter was definitely not enjoying the privileges of 2nd piggy! I despaired at that time of her ever allowing Rosie, the imposter, anywhere near Fifi or the hidies at one end of the cage - poor Rosie was so tentative in crossing a certain area because Meryn would soon tell her to get back to her own space. Eventually things settled down and all 3 seemed happy together. Meryn had 2 sisters, Meleri and Miaren, who went to live their best lives with @Wiebke - I’m very grateful to her for giving them a wonderful home.
I miss Meryn so much but am glad she’s not suffering anymore. Here’s a video of her enjoying some basil, to take away the nasty taste of medicine.
