Yesterday morning we found Serafina dead in her cage, she had passed during the night.
We were expecting that she may go soon, and had discussed the possibility that we might have to have her put to sleep if her suffering became too much. It's typical of her sweet and loving personality that she spared us having to make the ultimate decision.
Serafina was an amazing 7 years old and we had had her for 4 of those years. We took her in at short notice when a friend emigrated and the person supposed to take Sera changed her mind four days before their flight. From the first she was a wonderful family pet.
She loved cuddles, spending time in the run, pulling out hay that I stuffed into loo roll tubes to entertain her, and eating melon, celery and dandelion leaves.
Her family who emigrated returned after a little over the year and although we kept her, they visited regularly and maintained their bond, two families and several children are very sad to lose her. My nieces, who cared for her during our holidays, are also very sad.
Her piggy pals Lola, Marmite and Crumpet didn't know her for long but enjoyed the time they did spend with her.
I think of her now, free from pain and discomfort, running free at the bridge with her former cagemate, Tinkerbell, who died five years ago.
Always remembered with love. Thank you, little piggy x
