I posted a thread with photos a few weeks ago of Bruno and sadly had to update it earlier today but I feel it's only fair he gets a proper tribute.
Bruno was our family dog that lived back home with my mum and brother. A couple of months ago he collapsed and was diagnosed with arthritis. He's a cross between a great dane and a rotteweiler (well that's what the vet had determined when we gave him a forever home nearly 10 years ago). He was taking daily medication to treat his arthritis and was doing amazingly well. On Wednesday night my mum phoned me to say she didn't think Bruno was very well: he hadn't been eating as much, was much more lethargic than usual and wasn't lifting his leg to pee. She put it down his arthritis playing up but on Thursday night she noticed that his stomach looked bloated and made an appointment at the vet. I got a phone call this morning from my brother to let me know that sadly the vet had decided that Bruno had to be PTS 8...
The 'bloating' that my mum had noticed had actually been a tumour in his stomach which had started to bleed. There was nothing they could do for him. I'm absolutely devastated. It was only 2 weeks ago my OH and I were back home running round the garden like idiots playing with him. He was a fantastic dog (and I'm very much a cat person) who I loved to bits. He just wanted to be friends with everyone and just enjoyed attention and being part of daily life. There is now a very big void in our family with Bruno no longer here with us
.
R.I.P big man. I only wish I had got to say goodbye! A true legend.
