Sleep tight Eliza 29-11-2007 - 09-03-2014
This is the thread I have been dreading writing for so long now
You came to me at approximately 12 weeks old on the 29th November 2007 as a companion for Connie. You were the last guinea pig left as you hadn't much interest due to your pink eyes. I fell for you intently though and was not put off by your eye colour. You and Connie hit to off straight away and became the best of friends. It was down to the two of you where my love of guinea pigs began.

When Connie sadly died, we found a new friend for you and Eleanor soon became your new best friend

You lived together happily together for just over a year before I decided to expand to a group and Erin and Ena came to join you both. You were the top sow but so gentle and pleasant, every girl loved you

Sadly in January 2013, Eleanor left for the bridge and neutered boar Enoch came to join your group

Through a cruel twist of events, we lost both Erin and Ena in May 2013 and you had lost your group. It wasn't fair on either you or Enoch not to enjoy the group life style so Emma and Erika came along. You bonded quickly but Emma soon took over the group. You wasn't bothered and both you and Enoch were just happy to be part of a group again.

In September 2013, you sadly had to have your eye removed. Unfortunately things didn't go to plan and you caught an infection within the eye socket. However, you didn't let it bother you and after a few months of leaving the socket open with gruelling days of flushing and draining, the socket started to heal and you moved in back with your friends. The fact you quickly became the bottom of the group still didn't bother you and you enjoyed life to the full.

Things ran smoothly until December when you started to scratch your eye socket open and it became infected again although not to the extent it was before. We moved both you and your friends indoors over the colder months and you went a few months of weekly vet visits, antibiotic combinations, daily cleaning of the socket and a collar last Friday. You have taken it all in your stride but by Sunday, it all got too much for you and your time came to leave for Rainbow Bridge. I am pretty sure your passing was down to old age. I am totally heartbroken. The only consolation I have is that the end came quick and you were at home with your friends looking on.
Run free Eliza. Hopefully reunited with Eleanor, Erin and Ena, running the roost again and excepting Connie in to your group.
I love you so much and life will never be the same again xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
