Data's Piggies
Junior Guinea Pig
Not long after getting my piggies, I joined this forum to get help since I was (and still am) a first time guinea pig owner. This forum had helped me a ton, for sure. I don't think the two of my piggies would have survived nearly as long as they have if I didn't have this forum!
Just this morning, we found Gadget had passed away. Last week on Tuesday, we took the two to the vet since Gadget's eye had completely scabbed and crusted over; he had a very bad eye infection. We suspect it went to his brain since the eye is so close, or his lungs, or another really important organ since it was all of a sudden.
I couldn't handle it and broke down. My grandparents had to handle giving Gizmo his medicine for the morning and taking Gadget out of the cage. I think we're both taking Gadget's lose pretty roughly because Gizmo keeps making squeaking and clicking noises to get a response from Gadget that he won't get. I got so attached to these little , and I'm definitely taking it rough.
The vet told us how to handle cleaning the cage since we called him right after we found Gadget had passed. We're waiting to see if Gizmo needs a new cage mate; he's not nearly as 'spunky' as he usually is and has been pretty docile right now, but he's eating and drinking fine and even enjoyed a pepper this morning.
The only photo I have of Gadget (the one closest to the camera), sadly, is a photo of him and Gizmo after the vet trip enjoying some well-deserved rest after having to get manhandled since they didn't like the scary vet with the scary magnifier.
