I am so sorry to hear about Honey *super sad face* Honeys friend will be alright just keep a close eye on her and give he lots of attention... try giving her a stuffed toy so she can cuddle with it and not feel so lonely. It was not your fault she left so soon... you did everything you could Rest In Peace little one
I'm really sorry to hear of your sad loss. I've lost 2 that were under 3 year old & it always hits you harder when they've not grown to old age. I'm currently battling to keep another of mine healthy but she has to have a biopsy tomorrow & I'm dreading the result! R.I.P. Honey xx
I am very sorry that you have lost your beautiful girl! It is always such a gutting decision to make; but you made the right one.
Sometimes, it is sadly just not meant to be. I have lost piggies at that age, too. Honey had a loving home and a happy life; that is the important bit you can make a difference. You and your vet have tried your best; that is all you can do - how long a pet lives is not something you can control.
It would be great if you could find Honey's companion a new friend, either a sow or a neutered boar. Age is much less important than mutual liking, so if you could find a place where you could date her once she comes out of deep mourning in a few days that would be ideal. If not - considering that your options are more limited depending on where you are in Scotland -, a young girl would be your second best option. Depending on where you get a new piggy from, you may need to conduct a quarantine unless you are using a rescue with mandatory quarantine. Where in Scotland are you?
Here are tips on what you can do for your bereaved piggy: https://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/looking-after-a-bereaved-piggy.110463/
Thanks for your reply. It is so difficult.
I live in Aberdeenshire. My initial thought is that I do not want to get another piggy. I am hoping my other girl Daisy will pull through with lots of love and attention. She seems fine just now. If she starts acting differently then I may consider finding her a companion x
I am so sorry for your loss of Honey. Sometimes things happen and you just can't know why, young or old. As said, she at least had a wonderful home for her short life - and that's all that matters. Rest in peace, Honey.
I am so sorry you have lost your pretty girl, it is so hard to lose them especially when there is nothing we can do to make them better. Massive hugs to you x
I am so sorry. She looks so beautiful. I have also lost several this way too and sometimes there is no reason, its just one of those things and its so frustrating. It almost made me give up at one point.
However, I like to think that heaven just wanted them back sooner than thought. She will cavorting up in Guinea heaven no doubt creating havoc! You did your very best and gave her the best gift you could have given her...freedom from pain and suffering. No one can ask for more than that. Big hugs to you and Daisy x
Thank you everyone for the support, means a lot.
Daisy seems to be ok. Acting as normal so hopefully she will be fine on her own with loads of attention x
