Jasmine was my very first piggie. She was how my love for piggies grew.

She Has been by my side 7 years.

She was fine yesterday.. Woke up this morning and thought I had already lost her. She was still breathing but lost all movement in her back legs.

Sleep tight my girl I will miss you so much. It's only been a couple of months since I lost George xxFB_IMG_1516534068184.webp received_10159965559835523.webp FB_IMG_1516534016021.webp

I am so very sorry for your loss! It is always hard to cope when you cannot brace for it and when it happens close to another death. The first piggy is always extra special, but it is usually even harder to say goodbye when you share so many precious moments over so many years!

Jasmine was a gorgeous lady, but I am very biased towards red dutch type abys or aby crosses! They are my favourite breed.

When an old piggy goes into multi-organ failure at the end of their life it is upsetting for us loving humans because it often happens very quickly and we are not prepared for it, but it is actually the normal way to die for an elderly being that is not ill. In our current society where death has been largely marginalised, we have this firm idea that death means gently drifting away in one's sleep, but the truth is much more physical than that. The drifting away is only the end of that process. We don't normally go to sleep and not wake up again.

Take consolation that it was quick, that Jasmine didn't suffer much or for long, and that she would have been mostly out of it by the hard end. Also take consolation that she was much loved, and that she knew that. She is now back with George, so she is not alone. Accept that while her death was gentle on her, it is much more distressing for you - but then, wouldn't we rather shoulder that burden ourselves willingly for the sake of our beloved ones if we could make that choice?

I'm broken.i am at work.. just want to get home and get her to the vets so she can be cremated.

BIG HUGS!
Hang on in there if you can, or go home if that is allowed so you can give free rein to your grief. Make sure that you have a good old cry as soon as you can.

You have to cope with both the shock and the loss; that is a lot on your plate, especially as Jasmine's death is also bringing back your recent loss of George. Give yourself time.

If you can, start a diary in which you write down all your memories, the small ones and the big ones as they come into your mind them so that you always have them. Jasmine and George will never completely lost to you as you not only carry them in your heart, but also retrain your fresh memories in a medium that you can go back to whenever you need or wish to. You will be astonished as to how much is still with you if you do this!
You can also use the diary to write about your own feelings, too; it can be very helpful, especially when they are overwhelming.

So sorry to hear about your loss. She was such a pretty piggie.

I’m so sorry that she has gone. She was beautiful and loved. And lived to a ripe old age. The first Piggy always holds the most special place in our hearts. Popcorn free Jasmine. Huge hugs to you xx

Ahhh sleep tight gorgeous Jasmine. I followed your thread this morning when she was poorly. She lived to a great age & now she can popcorn free over rainbow bridge. :luv:.

the first ones are always so special they are the ones that start it all. I promise the rawness of the pain you are feeling in your heart will dampen. x

I've lost 2 piggies in 8 weeks :(
i know, it is so hard with losses so close together, you just start healing then you get hit again. Life is cruel sometimes like this :( Have a huge hug and remember their lives were so much better because of you and your life was because of them. The love is always worth the loss and we can unfortunately never feel love without loss at somepoint, Your other piggies will help mend your heart little by little
