Senior Guinea Pig
We had to make the decision tonight to help Kelvin, our dwarf hamster to the bridge. We think he was over 2 years old and for the last 2 weeks he was fighting a respiratory infection which combined with the frailty of old age made him very weak.
He came to live with us about 2 years ago. We were adopting Amy from the adoption centre in Pets at Home and were told there was a 3 legged hamster handed in and would we like him. We said yes but then were told we had to wait 3 weeks while he stayed out the back in quarantine. 3 weeks later on the dot I was there waiting to pick him up. He was the tamest hamster we have ever had and I could literally carry him round the flat in one hand.
Today he was very grumpy and hissing at us which was very unlike him and showed us he was fed up so we made the decision and got him an emergency vet appointment.
This is him a few weeks ago in his favourite bed which has gone with him.
