Junior Guinea Pig
It's taken me a couple of weeks to bring myself to write a goodbye to my brave and gorgeous boy. He is the 3rd piggy I have lost since November and the emotional strain has been awful. On the 9th February after a lengthy battle with bladder stones and sludge, I made the heartbreaking decision to end Rio's suffering. We spent the day snuggled on the sofa and Rio did what he does best - munched his way through the contents of my fridge! Sadly though, his health had deteriorated and although he was eating well, he was continually losing weight (and muscle) and his quality of life just wasn't good enough. Rio was part of my life for 6 and a half years and I miss him immensely. I will never forget his cheeky ways, his adorable goofy face and his excited wheeks whenever the fridge door opened! When we came home from the vets, we went in the guinea pig room and looked out of the window to see a rainbow. Quite fitting.
