After rushing Brandy-Snap to the vet yesterday as she was having trouble breathing, couldn't stand/ walk, was very weak and very wobbly, she was put on Oxygen, given treatment and was kept in as she was too weak to come home.
The plan was that the vet would call us in the morning to tell us how she was doing. We got in after my dad came to visit and got a call from the vet. They have tried everything they can think of and she's just going more and more down-hill to the point where she was suffering with no hope of recovery. They called to ask permission for her to be PTS.
I have always, always said that I would do what is best for our piggy children no matter how painful it is for us. So I reluctantly gave them permission and OH collected her this morning, wrapped in a towel, in the carrier we left there.
I wrote her a note as I have done with our other passed children and put it in with her, in her box:
"Beautiful, gentle Brandy-Snap, you left us so suddenly. I'm
sorry we couldn't hold on to you for longer and that you weren't
with us in your last moments, but I hope you understand that we
all love you very much and you had to stay with the vet if you
were to have any chance of beating whatever took you from us so
suddenly.
You may be gone, little piggy, but you will always be in our
hearts. Everyone will miss you and none of our lives will be the
same without you.
You'll be ok at Rainbow Bridge where you can popcorn and have
your sister; Sooty-Pig and friends Cocoa and Cotton to keep you
company. We will see you again some time, angel-pig.
Lots of love from mum, dad, Cinnamon, Coconut, Marble, Toffee and
Biscuit.
I also gave her a bracelet I made a while ago that was one of my favourites, a plaque I made in the shape of Rasher that had her and her sister's name on as well as a glass pendant that had a heart and rose inside saying "for you".
We both gave her one last kiss and she was then buried earlier this afternoon, with some flowers I picked, next to her sister Sooty-Pig, the babies: Cocoa and Cotton and OH's dog; Ben.
Rest peacefully my lovely, gentle little girl, you may be gone but you will never be forgotten and we will always love you ♥
The dove is to carry her to Rainbow Bridge with a forget-me-not flower and carrying her birthstone: Opal. I also made a tribute picture for the other piggies we've lost, Cocoa and Cotton's birthstone is Emerald. Sooty's is Opal as well as she was Brandy-Snap's sister:
Sleep well beloved babies... look after each other at the bridge until we are reunited, one day. We love you all and miss you terribly, we'll keep coming to visit you and Ben. X X X X X
