My little girl Paprika has started to have 'sleepy' eyes. There is a slight crusty discharge around both eyes. Almost the same as what we (humans) have when we wake up in the mornings. There is no redness or inflammation. I thought it might be her teeth causing problems but we have been weighing her regularly and there has been no weight loss. I've also been watching her eat and there doesn't seem to be any trouble there either. Any ideas.?

This can be the first indication of a URI so please keep a careful eye on your piggy and if you have any concerns please take her straight to the vet.

Another possibility would be blocked tear-ducts though I would not expect to see this in both eyes. You can bathe the skin with cooled boiled water to remove the crusts as they can be irritating to the skin and make the problem worse.

My teddy Sky gets blocked tear ducts which results in crusty eyes everyday. I just clean them twice a day

My Meg had a cyst in her eye, just under the bottom lid. That made her eye a bit watery and crusty
