J sleeps a lot, and I mean a lot. He's never been very active, the occasional burst of energy but that's about it. He's been on the grass for 2 hours now and has slept for well over half of that time.

Is this normal?

He eats well (very well!) and drinks normally (compared to the other two) and he seems healthy, its just that I've never known a pig to sleep as much as him. He'll fall asleep anywhere - I've just looked out of the window again and he's flat out asleep in the middle of his run.

I'm sure he's ok, I was just wondering. Maybe he's just lazy zzz

This is what I have found on a website for you...
Guinea pigs aren't nocturnal and don't sleep for long periods. They just take small naps during the day and night. They often don't close their eyes unless they are feeling very relaxed and even then its not very often, as guinea pigs like to be on the alert for danger. Many guinea pigs will just relax and rest their head on the ground, others will be totally relaxed and spread out their hind legs....

My guinea pigs only sleep a lot in the day when it's hot. Although when they are in their cage they aren't always active they tend to just relax and get up to eat and drink. I let my guinea pigs run around my living room for about 10-15mins and they run like crazy under my table, in and out of the table legs lol, toilet tubes are also my guinea pigs favourite toy as I always have something in their cage to wear down their teeth on as a boredom breaker.

My piggy is like this too. He tends to like to relax alot right by his food bowl and ive seen on many occasions him lying on his side looking really chilled out lol! x

J is definitely an 'eyes closed' sleeper, always has been. Maybe he's just a lazy and relaxed piggy who's comfortable in his surroundings. Bless him, he makes me feel tired just looking at him x

My guinea relaxes against the food bowl too I always say she's guarding the food, as she is a big eater lol

My two tend to sleep either eyes shut or half shut and if really relaxed spread out with their little legs out. dont know where you live but here it has been really hot this week and they have been less active and more sleepy in the hottest parts of the day.

If you are very worried then perhaps pop your little one along to the vet for a check up? :)
