Arghh seems like it's always happening to me!

Just wrote a massive post and then deleted it! mallethead

Amy seems to have a slight head tilt this evening. I watched her constantly for about an hour and she seemed normal some of the time but then would stand there with her head tilted to the right. I have checked her ears and can't see anything and no scuffle marks etc..

I kept thinking I was imagining it as was only a slight tilt until she ran along with her head very tilted and I knew it wasn't right. It's either my imagination or Tiger knows something is up and he seems to be glued to her side and keeps going up to her and grooming / nussling her neck at the other side.

I'm going to ring vets first thing but wanted some info as to what the likely causes are as am very worried and doubt i will sleep tonight!

When I had her out to check I let her snuggle on me for a bit and she layed with the right hand side on me also!

I'm hoping I am just being silly and paranoid but you never know!

Please help thanks!

I'm not sure if Leo does the same thing, but he looks at me with one eye which to me is like a head tilt, I believe he does this because he had or has an inner ear infection.

I hope all goes well and she's just fooling around or something =[

I'm hoping so which was what I was thinking when she was stood still like she was just looking at me funny like us human's do. But when she ran off with her head quite tilted it didn't seem right at all!

Forgot to mention she shook her head a few times almost like something was annoying her (ie an itch) but she didn't scratch it just sort of shook her head in that same right tilted direction!

sounds like there's something annoying that ear to me - maybe the start of an infection if you can't see anything?

let us know how you get on at the vet hun

x

If you take her out the cage and put her on the floor to run, does she run ok? Like no running off to the side or bumping into things? Leo runs like he's drunk, well he did, he's got better but still he's walked into me sometimes like he just runs flat out and doesn't really know where he's going. When he was worse he'd run and swerve(sp?) off to the side.

Also there was no outside indication of his ear infection.

She has been in the playpen this evening in the front room as most nights so I see her running around and that is why I spotted it. I gave them a house today that they have not had for a while and I took it away for a couple of minutes to watch her and then put it back and she tilted her head to get into it. Come to think of it earlier she was running towards the house with her head tilted is it her way of ducking :red

Anyway she is still shaking her head to that side like she is irrated so could be itchy inside. Because otherwise wouldn't she just scratch if it itch is on outside? Will still ring vet tomorrow as antibiotics surely can't hurt incase it is an infection? I have probiotics etc.. ready!

In no particular order.
Stroke, tumour, ear infection, brain parasite, pulled muscle, foreign body in ear canal,
dental problems.

Stupid vet was too busy! I swear they have blacklisted me as a worrier and don't seem to let me have the saved appts for emergencies! on the plus sides she is showing no symtoms now so maybe she was having it on with me! I'm going on monday so wish me and Amy luck!

Good luck for today!

Ear mites are also a possibility, they can cause itchiness and a slight head tilt due to the irritation caused. Otodex Veterinary Ear Drops (for cats and dogs) are good for cleaning the ears and apparently treating ear mites.

She seems fine still and vet couldn't see anything wrong with her! Think it was her just "playing up"! No treatment precribed just to "keep an eye on her"!

Glad that she is OK - but what an irritation for you!

Good to hear she is ok! May be worth having some ear drops to hand just in case it happens again - cleaning the ears routinely is a good habit to get into anyway, as dirty ears make great homes for "unwanted visitors"! I usually clean my pigs ears once every three months, unless their ears are very mucky.
