My piggy Freddie is eating and pooping fine... every few months he has a wobble in that he gets some blood in his urine. We have had him scanned and checked and no stones. He had this a couple of weeks ago for about two days. He went a bit quieter and took himself off to bed but then perked up and no blood. The last time he’d had this is about a year ago. Since then he’s absolutely fine. Popcorning, squeaking, eating, chasing his cage mate, drinking, washing etc.... but his weight is slowly going down. I was concerned they were getting a bit fat so I cut the veggies and pellets down a bit. Here’s the last few weigh ins.... 2/5 - 1’207g, 9/5 - 1’187g, 16/5- 1’184, 23/5- 1’173 —— just weighed him again today (26/5) and he’s 1’163.

Should I be concerned?

The weight loss is not yet serious (we only start talking about weight loss over 50g), but I would recommend to have him vet checked at your convenience in the next couple of weeks; sooner if the weight loss is starting to speed up.

That’s exactly what I was planning to do thank you. Just gave him a slice of apple which he gobbled up and weighed him again and he’d jumped up 10g! :))

Just a full bladder makes 10g more and a full belly is another 30-40g...
