Hi,
We lost one of our guinea weeks ago and were left with one female piggie - Waffle - 20 months old. She started to become lethargic although was still eating so we got two new baby piggies fairly quickly. She perked up and has seemed quite happy since then however her weight has been steadily decreasing.

18th June. 1264g. (When our other piggie died)
26th. 1251
8th July 1245
10th July 1228
19th July 1194

total loss in 4.5 weeks = 70 g

We initially thought this might be because she seemed more active with the very energetic babies around but are now getting concerned. She is long haired and the babies have been eating her hair a lot too. Although I think hair is too light to affect the weight.
Any ideas or advice welcome please.
Thanks in advance

Thanks, we have made a vet appointment for Thursday. Really hoping it is nothing serious. She seems so happy in herself.

I hope it’s nothing to worry about. But it’s better to be safe than sorry. Keep us posted.

A wee update on our piggie - vet gave her a thorough once over and can’t find any reason for the weight loss. She seems really happy in herself and is eating well. She’s been so much more active since we got the babies so are hoping that it is just that and her weight will stabilise. Thanks for the support. It’s great knowing that we can easily get advice from experienced owners.

As she is experiencing a downward trend, I would get her checked by a vet
