I have been searching my hutch for days trying to find the slimy creature leaving big fat sticky trails all over my hutch. I've driven myself mad searching every nook and cranny only today to discover a huge fat slug in the snuggle pouch! Yargh! I was horrified. Poor guinea pigs were sharing there snuggly bed with this horror who had moved in and pooed in there. He is now salted and binned but I am left with a sticky slimy snuggle pouch to clean yuck. Can't believe he was right under my nose all the time and I couldn't find him.

I've had the same problem myself, I even bought the plastic pots and put beer inside to attract them away from the hutch. I'm amazed where they appear. At the moment, I'm winning the war against slugs.

Perhaps I should try that. I've put sandpaper on hutch legs and copper tape all around the base and I never leave veg in there overnight yet still they get in. Its so frustrating.

If your hutch is free standing and not touching anything you can stand the legs of the hutch in pots or trays of water. As long as the legs sit in the middle if the tray the slug has no easy access to the hutch (short of dropping from plants etc nearby). Slugs can swim but from past experience seem to prefer not to and so take easier and alternative places to find food. When I lived back home with my parents I used to do this and the slug problem stopped :)

Thanks for the ideas. Any things worth a try

This drives me mad. I scan the hutch and shed everynight, if I spot any lurking that's it there exported out. Every morning I'm wiping the slug trails off the outside and inside of the hutch. I put Velcro around the legs thinking it might do the same as suggested sand paper. But nope they still managed to get it! Also with it being summer (or lack of) I didn't think I would get them but yep.

Its so frustrating isn't it. Every day I'm doing the same wiping the trails but I can never find the culprits. Its becoming an obsession!
