I was cleaning my guineas out on Monday evening. They live in a 3 tier hutch by my back door overlooking the garden. There were lots of slugs about slithering all over the floor and climbing the legs of the hutch to get in. All in all I collected 100... yes, 100!

I wasn't sure what to do so I put them in the binbag with the waste (now feeling guilty for probably killing them... :red).

Tonight I collected another 15 but couldn't bring myself to kill them so put them in next doors garden (its unoccupied).

Are the slugs harmful to piggies? Is there anything I can do to stop them or get rid of them in a nice way? Can't use poison as my Bunny is free range, plus wouldn't really want to anyway... just its really not nice when they get in the hutch and slime all over the hay and food bowls etc... especially if they might carry diseases or something - yuk.

I don't think there is any risk or threat to the guinea pigs! just not nice finding them!

As long as the guineas dont eat them! My cat has a habit of eating slugs and he has contracted lung worm a couple of times. But I really don't know if guineas can get this anyway, even if they mix up slugs with lettuce! :))

when i had rabbits there was in a 2 teir cage outside on the grass there had a run attached to it too i would allways find them in there dishs this was in the summer in the winter there cage was moved to under the carport
