Posset is finally over her ringworm and Toggle's nose has cleared up. However, I noticed that after her last wash in Imaverol, Toggle's fur looked 'scruffy' as though she was still damp (even though she was not). I had a look today and in the middle of her back there is a small (less that 1cm square) of cropped fur, but not a bald patch, and a little scab.

Now, I know these are signs of mites, as I've treated piggies for it before, but it doesn't seem as severe as I'd expect? There's no noticeable 'v' on her back and I've not seen her itching, nor does she fuss when her back is touched (in my experience, guineas get fussy and itchy when you stroke them when they have mites). It also doesn't seem to have got any worse over the past couple of days. I was just wondering what people thought? Could it have just been a reaction to the antifungal wash? Obviously I'll get her a vet appointment to check it out, but I'm just curious as to what people think it might be?

Thanks!

Please keep a close eye on it. You have likely caught whatever it is very early on before they have developed fully; the typical triangle develops over time, it is not the start of mange mites. Mange mites have a way of making an appearance whenever the immune system is lowered, as most guinea pig carry eggs in their skin.
If things are a bit further developed by tomorrow, I would recommend to see a vet.

I have been doing daily (sometimes multiple times!) checks of all four of my guineas since I discovered ringworm on Posset (I usually do near daily checks anyway, but I've been extra vigilant since the break out). Toggle's back hasn't got any worse. It looks like the scab has actually fallen off, but is still attached to the hair (if that makes sense) so it's a little difficult to see. She, as well as the others, seems lively and happy, too. =)

I'll continue to keep an eye on her for a bit longer but so far it doesn't look like it's something I need to worry about. Hope it stays that way!

All the best! if it was ringowrm or fungal, you'd see a deterioration by now.
