piglet has a very small bite on his ear, that it think might have been caused by roger rolleyes. how should i care for it? is neosporin ok to put on? its small but i dont want to let it get infected. thanks.

Ear nips are quite common in piggies - a simple clean up should be enough for it to heal well. Neosporin is not a product I know so cannot comment if it is ok to use on piggies.

Do keep an eye on it as sometimes what looks like a small bite wound turns out to be the start of ringworm (fungal skin infection).

neosporin is an antibiotic ointment used for humans. and the ringworm is a good point because he was treated it for it a few months ago. so ill keep an eye out, thanks!

ive always found if my lot fight they always go for the ears...!...:o

when jaffa massacred marleys ear... i bather in some cooled boiled water with a bit of salt dissolved in it....
i did that twice a day untill the scab had come off...
and he healed fine.... i personally are reluctant to put chemicals on piggies unneccisarly....(SP...!?!?)

and watch for infection... any red patches....if its sore looking(or progressivly getting sorer looking)... and weeping or its just no healing then i would think of other treatrments...

good luck...

ROGER! tsk tsk........leave Piglet's ear alone, you is worrying your mummy! rolleyesmallethead

Hope you've been able to clean it up ok............ i'd personally only use the lightly salted pre boiled and cooled water first......... :)

me thinks the boys need a chat about being nice to each other :)

ugh suzy i think you're right about the fungal. i went down to look in on him and it's white and scaly like it was the last time he had ringworm. now to find an exotic vet. this shall not be easy.
