View attachment 66221 My guinea pig's left eye smaller, squinted, and more inwards that the right, healthy one. Chewbacca, my piggy had only been bought on Sat., and came with his eye like that. Is there anything I can do? It is also a little red, and there's liquid in the corner.

Please see a vet promptly; your boy has likely injured his eye. it is in any case very painful. Only a vet has the equipment to make a correct assessment, as eye damage is not always visible without specific dyes.
Eye injuries can deteriorate quickly, but with correct and appropriate treatment, they are also heal up very straight forwardly in most cases if they are seen in time.![]()
Please let us know how they get on. Definitely a poorly eye

Tetraciclina e Sulfametiltiazolo are the italian names of the antibiotics contained in that (very good) medicine used for children, adults and kittens, which is not adviced for guinea pigs. Anyway, as it is a topic ointment and it is really good, maybe it can be safe also for piggies eyes when the situation is serious. Consider that that ointment can solve a trouble after 1-2 doses only... Maybe the vet will use a strong antibiotics for this reason... he knows what he is doing, don't worry. There are a lot of medicines for eyes...
There are very few medications licensed for guinea pigs. Here in the UK it is very common to use medications licensed for cat or dog use. It has even been known to use hormone injections usually used in cattle. I'm sure the vet will have given your piggy the best medication to deal with the problem
Ok. Hopefully he'll be fine!
Was it pain relief that was the kitten medicine? We use either metacam or loxicom which come in cat or dog strength. The only antibiotic for guinea pigs in the UK is baytril but for most conditions it is ineffective and is harsh on the guts so we find knowledgeable vets tend to use alternatives like sulfatrim or zithromax
I honestly have no idea, however the same medication was used on another pig and it worked.
