Morning all,

Has anybody tried or does anybody use the small rubber kongs with their Guinea Pigs?

I have two small red kongs and was wondering if tonight i filled them with their dinner whether they would enjoy rolling them about to get their food out?

I'd probably be wary of using a kong toy, I think they're made of rubber aren't they? and pigs being pigs would mean they'd probably end up chewing it instead of the food :p also they may try and get their heads inside of the toy depending on the size of it.

Thanks, it was only the smallest one so no heads would have been jammed in there :) just big enough to shove a carrot in. ok will give it a miss then if there is a chance of ingesting it - i thought, perhaps a bit naive, that if they tasted the rubber they would leave it and just eat the food?

Pigs seem to be very open minded, they'll try anything once; Fleece, cardboard...hair rolleyes
If you have a spare kitchen roll tube you could cut it down the middle and pop some veggies in it. They can still roll it around but it won't harm them if they have a nibble on it.

Bought my guinea a plastic treat ball as he liked the cats and worked out how to push it around and get food out but I can't seem to find any guinea food he likes to put in his!

My sister has a tiny small animal kong for her dwarf rabbit, she feeds him nuggets and puts mixed dried food in the kong as a treat for him. He is a chewer but as far as I am aware he hasn't chewed the kong yet, I've watched him play with the kong and nudge it around.

I was thinking about getting one for my boys but I think they'd have no interest in it what so ever, plus I think the strong rubbery smell might make them give it a wide birth but every pig is different so you never know.

You could always try it with them supervised just to make sure they don't eat the rubber instead of the food :)
