Hello (:

I was wondering if anyone could please offer me some help/advice about something. A few days ago I noticed that one of my guinea pigs had developed a little lump/wart/spot next to her nose. At first I thought it was a bit of muck and tried to wipe it off, but it's definitely attached! Please could any one tell me, is it something that will just go away in a few days, or could it be more serious? ):

Thanks in advance! (:

P.S. I'd also like to thank everyone who replied to my last post regarding an abscess that one of my guinea pigs had. About a week after I posted the message, the abscess burst and I had to clean it for a few weeks. Now she has completely recovered and has been just fine ever since!

If it is not sore I would keep an eye on it for about a week or so and if it doesn't get any bigger and causes no pain I would leave well alone. Hope this helps :)

Is she living with another piggy or piggies ?

If so this might be an old cut or something and left a flap of skin that looks like a lump
But I'm not really sure to be honest but a trip to the vets may be good to actually see what it is if no one on here can tell you what it is for certain O0 O0

i would suggest taking her to the vet just to get it checked out even if it is to only ease your mind and to know whether it is infected or not. hoping all gets sorted, welcome to the forums from me and the girls from oz :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*

Thank you everyone for your answers! I think that, as suggested, it was probably a scab. It came off, scabbed over again, and seems to have healed now. However - the same guinea pig now has a different, seemingly more serious, problem! I noticed today that she had a lump, about 1.5 cm, on the side of her face. It appears to have been bleeding, but has scabbed over now. Could it be that my other gp scratched her and the scratch became inflamed? I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow, but am really worried, so any help would be greatly appreciated (not able to take a photograph atm, can't find the camera)!

could me where if she has been scratced or bitten it could of gotten infected from the dirt in the nails of the pig or something in your pips mouth thts wat might of madre it inflamed.
Best of luck

Thank you for your reply. Yep, I did think it could be this - do you know if this would be easy to treat? I'm just really worried because although I'm no expert it looks really quite bad to my eyes. The lump seems much larger than I imagine it would be if it was inflamed. The scab is large too, and my two guinea pigs never fight, so I can't understand how it would have happened. ):

you would just have 2 see with your vet i think like it could just need draining if it has any kind of fluid in it or time 2 heal he might say.

The vet might try to diagnose it as mites & give her either an injection or topical spot on of Ivermectin. If he/she is confident it isn't mites it could be fungal. :)
