Can't think of a better title :-/...but basically, our garden is in a pretty bad state and we have been considering artificial lawn for some time.

The one thing holding me back has been the Guinea pigs. Our garden is laid out on two (small) levels, so what I have been thinking is to artificial turf the top section which is currently lawn, and then somehow have someone build a large turfed bed on the bottom section (currently paved) where I could put the guinea pigs out.

I am not sure how it would work with them eating the grass though. Their run is 6ft, I would ideally want the turf bed 6ft long and twice as wide as the width so that I could move it around for them. But would that be enough that they would have enough to eat if that makes sense? So, would it grow enough if they're just on those two patches and nowhere else? Oh my gosh...I wish I could explain better than this! If anyone can make head or tails of what I'm saying I'd be grateful for opinions pls! Thanks!

I think I get what you mean. Do you have them out every day?

Yes, but never for hours and hours. Anything between 30 mins and 2 hours I reckon - when they retreat to their carrier for a while I know they've had enough so bring in!

I think that would probably be enough space for them then.

I think so too...because their run is 6ft, I do tend to leave them in the same spot for a few days as they don't tend to cover all 6ft in one day anyway lol
