So just a general question, does anyone have a particularly small pig? My Bella was the runt of her litter and has always been lighter than my other pigs, they're all around 1,000 grams (even the young ones) and she's at 850.

She's not lost weight or anything she's just always been lighter, I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Has anyone else got runts or piggies that are a lot lighter?

Mine are about 18 months old now, so around about their likely adult weights (probably, ish) and little Rey is hovering around the 830 mark (Chewie is 870 and BB was 907) as of last week. All hefts are fine and no pokey bones but they are little! There is such a difference in the feel between the three and Rey feels somehow less dense than the other two? Like holding a little bird. BB is long - her back feet stick out one end of the weigh-tunnel and her teeth stick out the other! Chewie is wide - once she's in the tunnel only she can get her self out!

Haha oh bless, yea Bella is 16 months old now, the babies are almost 8 months and they're 996 & 998 grams but they're Rex Aby crosses so I assumed they'll be bigger than Bella as she's an English smooth haired piggy, or an American as I think they're calling them now for some reason lol.

Glad to see Bella's not the only light weight! :))

Yeah I've had a few. One of my current boys is 3.5 years old and he's never been over 1100g.

I also looked after a friends pig when she had to rehome him. He wasn't ill or skinny or boney but he was always just under 1000g.

I think some pigs are just naturally smaller.

Oh wow that is teeny tiny! Yea I think you're right about naturally smaller, Bella is big on her zoomies so she must burn it all off lol.

It's a relief to know there's nothing to worry about! I was starting to consider some syringe feeding to try and get her to match her sisters but I'm glad I won't have to, she's not a fan of the dreaded syringe after baytril gate! :))

Humphrey is really delicate next to my other boars. At 3, he has a stable weight of 830g, but he's been checked over and although he's a lightweight, there's nothing wrong with him. He's very active and eats like a horse, but there's nothing to him at all!

Yes, some are just much smaller. My Rummer who is 4 was at a peak of about 910 grams, but usually stays more around the 885 grams mark. And she looks chubby on it! She just has a teeny tiny frame compared to the others, she is very short and has little feet.

Awh bless haha it's nice to hear of the little pigs, Bella has little man syndrome because of it idk if any of yours do :))

Rummer definitely has the biggest attitude. She seems to love throwing her weight around. She lives with another sow and a neutered boar who is 1.3 kg and she's always physically shoving and humping him!

Haha another diva then :)) My Tonks is having meds atm and she throws her weight around afterwards, turning houses upside down and picking on her poor, very patient sister :)) But she's a big pig, wouldn't take on little Bella though!

One of our pigs, Frenzy, maxed out at about 900 g. She was just little. She did pass away young, but it was due to a major dental abscess/bone infection, not anything due to her stature. She just had tiny little paws, short little nose, and just generally built very tiny.

Betsy is smaller than Rosie (and always has been). I adopted her and her sister at 2 years old and when I first got her she was around 700g. She was very skinny though and soon put on weight and is now at a weight of around 950g and always stays around this weight. Her sister isn't too much bigger at 1080g but Betsy just looks and feels a lot smaller in general x

Very unlucky :( I'm always worrying too much about the piggies, until they start popcorning around that is and I remember to enjoy them instead :)
