small poops

Hi,

First sorry if my English is bad
But I need really help
I have Guinea pig that has small poops really small .. he is 2.5 years.. become more thinner than usual.. less active.. I’m in Saudi Arabia and trust me there is no good doctor for Guinea pigs cuz every time I take one to them .. they kill them ! They don’t know anything so I’m scared
what should I do or if I go to vet what should I say to help the doctor to choose the right medicine or anything.. if the reason from his teeth or ummm breathe... just need someone to guide me
Today I saw him eat but not to much like in 15 second .. he can’t move in right way like he is dizzy .. umm I think he can’t drink water so I help him but not to much ..

Okay, first take a deep breathe. I would reccomend starting to syringe feed him as soon as possible, mushed up and soaked guinea pig pellets. And then after that syringe feed him water. Is there any way you could take him to a vet somewhere else? Like travel somewhere to like the uk or us, and take him to an exotic vet? I will tag @Wiebke as she is very experianced with guinea pigs and might be able to help you more.

Yes .. hay it’s should be like 80% of there food and yes I put near to him some clean small veggies near to him ... so I should not open the AC in my room so he don’t get cold ? like normal temperature ( not hot not cold ) ... and sorry the poops pic I was cleaning them and take them back to get pic

Those look like very small and dry poops, maybe before he got sick his water bottle was not working properly? Causing him to have dry poops, being lethargic and not eating? It could be possible a broken/old water bottle that wasnt allowing him to drink could have caused this. Make sure to get him a replacement bottle soon if this is the problem, also i am not a hundredd percent sure. Continue to syringe feed him mushed and soaked pellets, and water twice a day every day. If you notice any improvment please post. Keep us updated everyday. If you are able to get Oxbow Critical Care where you are, you coould buy and syyringe feed him this along with the mushed and soaked pellets.

It sounds like there is an underlying problem if he has also been losing weight and becoming less active. Besides supportive care with syringe feeding, I think you may need to take a chance and bring him to the vet. Someone more knowledgeable should come around and then hopefully they can give you advice on what kinds of medications you may expect to hear about from the vet.

If you really are desperate to treat him, you could go to the best vet possible in your area and offer to pay extra money for them to diagnose and treat your boy and not kill him.

“ Oxbow Critical Care “ I don’t think that I will find it but I will try .. he was with 2 of his brothers but one of them keep fighting him like ( I’m stronger than u ) .. this week happened they were so friendly to him but I don’t know what happened .. maybe cuz they want there own place now I don’t know .. but he now in new clean cage with good water and I will keep my eyes on him

The bad thing that 6 places for animals here with NO Guinea pigs food .. and like u know 1 time in year they bring it .. they just focus in cat, dog, birds, hamsters .. that’s why I’m scared

Is amazon, ebay or chewy.com avaliable to ship in your area? If either one is, those are good online shops to buy good guinea pig food, hay, toys, cages, supplies and treats. If you are able to accsess atleast one of those, I would reccomend to start feeding your guinea pigs “Oxbow Essentials Adult Guinea Pig Food” it is a great food and will help keep your guineas healthy. Oxbow Critical Care is also avaliable on those sites too. If you do decide to take him to a vet please be careful about what they do to him.

Hi!

Small poops mean that your guinea pig is ill and is not not eating and drinking much. If he is apathetic and fully conscious, then it is sadly rather likely that his body has started closing down and that he is dying.
Please take the time to read this link here; especially the last chapters. I am very sorry that you haven't found us earlier.

Sorry to hear you are not getting any help with caring for your piggies. They do need veggies for vitamins, pellets, and endless supply of hay. Losing weight indicate he wasn't getting enough food, which also explains the small poop size. Hope the rest of the piggies are ok.

It is very hard for you as a loving and caring owner that is not allowed to look after them as you would like to and that is not getting any understanding why the loss of a pet can be as bad as the loss of a friend or family member. There is nothing wrong with you!

Food:
Lots of hay is actually over 80%, a careful mix of fresh herbs and vegetables is 10% (ca. 50g) and 1 tablespoon of pellets is 5% of what a guinea pig eats in a day. The more hay your guinea pig eats, the better for good health and a long life. Too much veg can shorten the life span.
Have a look at our diet guide. It has got a picture of a sample diet and a list of what you can feed how much how often.

Vitamin C is not necessary if you feed veg and herbs in a balanced diet. Too much vitamin C on a regular basis can cause long term problems (including actual vitamin C deficiency when your piggy's vitamin C drops during illness because the body has got used to a constant high level).
But giving additional vitamin C to an ill guinea pig for 2-3 weeks can help to boost their immune system. Please be aware that recovery formula is usually enriched with vitamin C, too.
