is smaller than normal poos a sign of illness in piggies? They are the normal width and shape but just about half the length. Some are normal.I'm not sure which poos belong to which piggy!

Hi, Yes, I have found that poorly piggies tend to produce smaller poos, some of them have little 'tails' like teardrops. I believe that those particular shaped poos indicate dehydration. The small poos - I have seen them produced by an elderly piggie that was quite unwell. I think you will have to separate each piggie and find out which one is producing these poos and go from there. Good luck and I hope all turns out well for you all.

Probably not the same type of 'half the length' poo but my pigs often chomp their in half.. the ones they've taken from their coecum.. Though it's obvious because they have a blunt end.

My man had WHOPPING poos when he came to us first. As he's gotten used to our feeding regimes and such his poos are the same as my females but more regular.

Separated and found out which piggie it was, and took him to vet. She thinks there is nothing wrong with him and didn't seem concerned. He was actually doing some "proper" sized ones and some "half" ones. I took a sample of each along and the vet thought they were the right texture/consistency etc. Meanwhile he is still acting completely normally. Its probably completely unrelated but he is the piggy who had a head tumour removed a couple of months ago. Should I still be concerned?

So he is doing some normal ones too? You haven't changed any type of food have you dry or fresh?

Just keep a very close eye on him and returned to the vet if you are concerned. Is the output still the same? No periods of not pooing?

yes, when I separated it looked like there were normal ones as well. They are still on the same dried food (Excel) and fresh - which is usually a combination of spinach, celery, carrot, cucumber, peppers. Output is good - he can poop for Scotland :))

I agree, if he is doing normal and smaller mixed and pooing like crazy and acting normally then i would just keep an eye on him, might be diet related. I only tend to worry if overly dry or very small :)
