small wound

Noticed Sally our little girl has a small wound by her left ear so had a good look at it and am baffled
It is less than the size of a 5p coin, dry but has bled at some point. I bathed it in warm water and all the time she was licking and nibbling on my hand so doesn't appear distressed or in pain.
Checked her pen for anything she may have caught herself on but nothing so am wondering if she has had a nip off one of the other girls she lives with which would be surprising as they are very close or maybe over zealous grooming. It's not an abcess and she let me have a good old poke around without flinching a whisker
Sal's eating, drinking and scampering around as her usual self and has not been any 'tiffs' that I'm aware of as they're all in the lounge and under watchful eyes rolleyes

Dry scabby skin on the ear may be something like fungal unfortunatly.

Does it look like a scratch mark? Are her nails particularly long, and could she have cut herself when scratching?

Abi nurse, thank you - have just had cuddles with Sally and had a closer look. It's a tiny round wound about as big as the end of a pen, clean and not scabby or dry - I'm now thinking it may have been a small cyst/abcess that has burst 8... It's not 'mucky' and have cleaned it again with some cooled boiled salt water and dabbed dry with a gauze swab. Feel bad that I could have missed this ")

Jerrybelly, thank you - that was my initial thought but her nails are kept short (a nightmare to do being an all black piggy rolleyes) Am hoping she won't scratch it as it's within easy reach

I'm going to keep a close eye on her and pop her to our vet if not improved, it doesn't appear to be bothering her at all atm but worry it maybe causing her pain. Have some Metacam here and have given her a drop as a precaution.

It sounds like its healing then, whatever it was, which is good

PS) I now how you feel with the nail- cutting. Frankie is a black piggy, with completely black nails. I'm sure that I find it more stressful then he does when I attempt to cut them - I literally hold my breath for every one!

Thank you - she's always so loved up 24/7 with her buddies that she only wants to know me for food etc. and I have been pre occupied with the new boy settling here so thought I'd have some Sal and other piggy time today, that's when I noticed it. She had such a lousy life as you know and this is the first time anything untoward has happened with her
Not getting any evils from her yet so think she'll be fine after a bit of her favourite Dill with dinner later
