Smelly Hay

Hi,

I have just finished my last bag of Hay from B&M and it seemed to smell more sweet and more green than what I used to get, but this new bag smells smoky? like its literally been sat next to a fire for a while. I have been trying to look online to see if this is still ok but all I can see is if it smells mouldy don't use it. Has anybody ever had this before?

Never heard of smoky hay. If in doubt , it's best to rake it back.

you shouldn't feed hay that smells smoky or has a tobacco type smell

will they be ok with it until I get home from work? It looked like they had not eaten any of it this morning from when it was given last night at 10pm. Had a little bit left from the old stuff and put it in their hay rack but all the new stuff is in their beds.

if possible i'd go and remove it and get some fresh.

Cheers, stuck it work at the moment but managed to get some fresh stuff, smells much better. Hopefully they don't eat any of the stinky stuff.
