I have had george for about 6 weeks now (he is perhaps 3/4 months max) & I have noticed him starting to smell. He is not visibly dirty and he is always cleaning himself. It is definately not the cage or anything but him.

Is it advisable to bath him as didn't think they smelt that quickly! he has had two courses of mite treatment which I suppose could be the cause. His last one was last saturday so by time I get round to doing it would be 7 days ago is this ok?

Which shampoos are the best. I am not too bothered about the smell (obviously don't want him to smell bed though) I just want something that will be good / not harmful to his skin!

Thanks in advance for the advice. :)

gorgeous guineas do a fab range of natural shampoos for piggies - lice n easy or just for boars are the two which I would recomend.

good luck

Could it be his grease gland? This can make them smell a bit whiffy. If it is, it will be kind of waxy. You can use Swarfega or fairy liquid, wet his bottom, rub some on and leave it for a bit (supervised) then rinse thoroughly.

It's ok to bath 7 days after mite treatment, any sooner than that it will wash away the treatment.

Gorgeous Guineas stuff is great, they do a 'Just for Boars' so he doesn't smell too girly!
