no not alot of veg , i noticed this the other day so i have gave her less veg than i normally do . n shes only 15 wekks old and ive had her since she was 10 weeks
Make sure that she drinks plenty of water so she doesn't get dehydrated and keep her warm. Hopefully she has just eaten too many fresh greens but if the problem hasn't changed in a couple of days time, I'd take her to the vets to be on the safe side. One of my piggies had a tummy bug a couple of months back and needed antibiotic treatment x
What veggies have you given her? Are her poops formed and smelly, or soft/watery?
The foods she is eating are most likely to be the cause; dietary changes (common in newly adopted guinea pigs) and specific foods can impact on the poops quite a bit in some pigs. "Gassy" veggies like cabbage, broccoli and kale tend to lead to the stinkiest poops from my lot!
well i mainly give her cucumber and carrot her favourite recently shes had parsley ( a tiny bit once a day ) bit of baby corn and parsnip , so *** know if that would be it ? and she eats loads of hay and water . and she has tesco make for her dry food. so overall she seems fine just her smelly problem lol so if it doesnt stop by thursday should i take her to vet ?
Given that she has not got diarrhea, she is otherwise well aside from stinky poops, I would be inclined to sit and wait a bit. It is likely to simply be dietary.
Eleanor, I can't give my pigs cabbage/broccoli/kale at all any more due to two pigs who suffer "chronic bloat" (i.e. these gassy veggies aggravate their condition) but I sure don't miss the stinky poops. The difference when they have had "gassy" veggies is quite something, isn't it?!
