I am sorry for your loss. Guinea pigs can go downhill very quickly; but you have done your best under the circumstances. Often piggies hide that something is wrong - when they show them, it is very late; they are prey animals and a sick animal is a danger to the whole group.

RIP Smokey

Sick animal danger to group?
Does that mean bud will die aswell think smokey had respitory problem as my child said to day his breathing sounded funny

I'm so sorry for your loss, run free Smokey.

When Wiebke mentioned that a 'sick animal danger to group' she was talking about what happens in the wild, I'm sure you've seen wildlife documentaries that have said something similar regarding animals like lions and gazelles. It is part of Guinea pigs ancestral make up that they try and hide any illness.

Very sorry for your loss.

I'm sure you have done nothing wrong, Guineas are very good at hiding sickness from us

Hugs to you and Bud x

OH I am so sorry for your loss. The best thing for your remaining piggy is to get them a friend right away to prevent lonelyness. You should do it through a animal shelter so they can choose their own friend.

I'm so sorry to hear about Smokey. Popcorn free little one..

I'm very sorry the guinea pig died, but from your earlier posts it seems like you noticed he wasn't eating last Thursday night. This means that you waited Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday and didn't take him to the vets. I understand that sometimes life gets in the way and it is often difficult to get to the vets straight away, but a guinea pig that has stopped eating needs to go to the vets urgently, not 5 days later.

I'm sure a lot of people will think I am being mean and perhaps I am, but I think it is important to remind people that taking a sick guinea pig to the vets is essential.

Whee are really sorry to hear about little Smokey 8...8...8...
