Okay so my piggy Chester went through a faze of sneezing, so we went to the vets, she found nothing wrong with his breathing, or anything like that, his weights fine and all she suggested was an allergy to sawdust, like everyone suggested on here when i asked, so we've changed to fleece and there has been a big difference.
But yet he's still sneezing, it's not as often but it's still there
He's eating and drinking as normal and is his usual cheeky self his weight hasn't fallen or anything like that.
Even since been on fleece he's sneezed every now and then but in the last 5 minuets he's randomly sneezed a billion times ! and it's been while he's up on the top shelf were the hay, food and water bottle are.
Is there any chance he could also be allergic to hay ?

any suggestions are appreciated thanks.

When I first got my girls they were sneezing often. I give them a vitamin C tablet each day. I get it from hay experts. I crush it and put it on a slice of cucumber for them to eat. This has made a huge difference to them. I really think all piggy owners should do this. Try it and see how they are after a month.

It wont do the piggy that isnt sneezing any harm.

Is your hay up in a hay rack, or in piles? Putting it in a hay rack so he can eat it without smushing his nose in the dust may help, also give it a good shake when you get it out of the bag. Unfortunatly, it may well be the dust from the hay!

Ditto. Give it a good shake.

My friends rabbit has hay fever lol, and the vets suggest that she spritz it with a mist of water, wonder if that could be same with piggies?

All there hay is up in a hay rack as i try not to get it on the fleece, i shake it out as best as i can but most of the little bits land on the floor anyway.
I might try shaking a little more and maybe the water :)

Thanks for this post. I will keep an eye on my black piggie just in case, but I think it could be the new sawdust or because the timothy hay I bought this time is really dry for some reason. I will get some vit c and give him some small handfuls of alfalfa hay to make sure. Thanks again!

I guess all has been said but I wish that is your cure and your piggies stop sneezing!

My pigs have Readigrass. I don't know if that would help as it seems to be less dusty than hay?

Please don't spray the hay with water as this can cause the hay to ferment which in turn could cause bloat.

Readigrass should be fed in addition to hay - it is also very high in calcium and should be fed sparingly.

Why not try the dust free hay company.
