well my Guinea pigs name is Kadie and she has been sneezing or sniffling as she's laying down in her hideaway and I'm not sure if she is sick or not. Please help

Book her in at at vets ASAP. It could be an URI and hopefully antibiotics can help

It can be just a slightly blocked airway due to some dust etc., but if it doesn't go away soon, please have her checked by a vet in case it is a respiratory infection, which needs prompt treatment. Guinea pigs can't breathe through the mouth, so any obstruction in the airways is always very noticeable.

She hasn't been sneezing much now but if she does again is there anyway to know that it would definitely or definitely not be something wrong her airways

If you are worried about continuing frequent sneezing (5 times a day is occasional), you need somebody who is trained with a stethoscope and the appropriate knowledge about what could cause it to make that decision and give you a considered diagnosis.

All we can do on this forum is give you an idea when you need to see a vet and potential avenues to pursue with him. We cannot replace a vet visit.

ok thanks, gotcha but are there any other symptoms of respiratory problems I should watch out for too just so I always know what's going on with her

These are the symptoms for a respiratory infection; for a URI you usually need two or three symptoms. The main symptoms are yellow crusted eyes and nose, raspy/wheezing/heavy breathing, loss of appetite/weight loss (as the need to breathe comes before the need to drink and the need to eat) or if the occasional sneezing is turning into constant sneezing or coughing; in advanced stages of URI or pneumonia lethargy. If you suspect a URI, you need to see a vet as soon as you can get an appointment, ideally as an emergency (I know that that is more difficult in the US than here in Britain).

In any case, it would be good to have at home what you need to syringe feed and water whenever needed and a probiotic to help prop up the guts, so you can keep a piggy going until it can be seen. They can lose weight very quickly, so if you are worried about a piggy's health switch to weighing daily, either before you serve dinner or after and then step in with syringe feeding if any short term weight loss is getting beyond 2 oz/50g.
