One of my guinea-pigs has started sneezing, the other has sneezed occasionally for a few weeks. They're outside in a hutch (which is in an insulated shed) and I use hay and newspaper as bedding. However, I do put them out on the grass in their run still during the day which is covered over and they have shelters to go in, I also dry the grass first with newspaper(!) before putting them in. They both sneezed just before I put them in back in their hutch.

They are eating like troopers and acting normally. I listened to one's chest and it sounded fine - I could just hear the whooshing of her heart (I was going to listen to the other, but it was getting dark and still had the bunnies to get in; I will check tomorrow).

The others are in a different hutch and don't seem to be affected.

I had a cold recently, could they have caught it off me?

They will not have casught a cold from you.
An occasional sneeze is normal.

I think, although I have no proof, that many pigs with "hay-fever" are mis-diagnosed as having a respiratory infection.

Yes. I saw that sticky, I'll have to read through it. I have heard her sneeze though when I've been cuddling her and putting her in her run (laterly, not in the summer).

I take Echinacea for a cat allergy (which does seem to work), and whilst I have some dried Echinacea the guinea-pigs won't eat it (the bunnies do), otherwise I could have tried them with that.
