Sneezing N Slight Crust On Nose

Have been keeping an eye on Porridge for the past few days as I wasn't sure if I was imagining her sneezing more. Picked her up about an hour ago, something kinda small was on her nose and easily wiped off, think it was a crust. I'll be booking an appt at Taverham soon, but just wondering if anyone had thoughts
 
It could be the start of an URI or an allergy. Good luck at the vets I'm sure they'll tell you what it is.
 
One of mine is sneezing and has a runny crusty nose. Vet diagnosed either a upper URI infection or straw stuck up her nose which is very common. She's on antibiotics and even after one day seems a lot brighter.
 
Please don't worry but yes id book one for tomorrow if that's the earliest you can do because if it is a URI then it's better to get it checked earlier then later. It could just be an allergy tho or as @Watchman said a bit or hay or dust that has got stuck up the nose. :)
 
Thanks. Frustrated however as Taverham is a bit away from me and they're closed now so I don't know if they have any appointments for tomorrow :(

Also I'm concerned my vet isn't taking me seriously. Admittedly I have visited a lot in 2017 already (as Minja fell ill, Ginny being checked over after she passed, the new girls and him being checked over, him going in for possible bloat that didn't find a health issue). I think I'm being looked at as a paranoid owner, which I most likely am but is really unhelpful if there is a problem

I've also been cutting Porridge's belly as she kept getting it wet today (long hair) dragging it through wet spots during floortime and have found a very tiny thing on her stomach near the centre :( feels solid but soft and can move it around, I'm very confused. It's very small, not sure what I can even compare it to, quite a bit less than the size of a cotton bud. Maybe the size of a guinea pig's one nostril.

Guinea pigs sneeze several times day (often after piggy washing) to clear their noses.

Please don't panic; it is most likely some hay dust or pollen. Yesterday was a warmer, but very windy day. ;)

URI crusts are thick and yellow/green; they usually come with rattly breathing and the whole caboodle, as they are a well developed stage of URI. It takes time for thick mucus develop - that is never the first stage of a URI.
 
Thanks :) I wasn't aware that they sneezed so much, I panic when I see them sneeze more than 4 times a day. The hay messes with my nose (asthmatic and sensitive to dust) but I wasn't sure if it could do the same to them. Is there a good hay supplier that is restrictive of dust?
 
She seems ok this morning, however I did see a speck or two of what must be crust, smaller than yesterday but still worried. I'd take her up to Pakefield today but my mum is out sorting out my nan's stuff as she passed away recently, rip, and didn't take her own car so she's stuck there until 1pm or so, which is when they close. I'm unsure

Just keep an eye on her. If it was URI you would see more symptoms developing, like rattly breathing and a decreasing appetite/developing lethargy etc. If she is still OK in herself, then she'll keep. ;)

Any vet will treat for URI whenever there is the least suspicion that it might be one that is why most of our members come away with antibiotics, just to make sure.

Also, one of my pigs has allergies around this time of year. Still good to see a vet but just one more thing to ease your worry.
 
Thanos :) feeling a bit unsure though as I'm not sure who to take to the vet anymore - Porridge still goes, but I feel Peppa has been sneezing more but I'm not sure if that's just me being hyperactive with their health

Edit: I'm thinking about taking them to Taverham instead of Pakefield. They're all seeming ok today, I don't mean to keep postponing but it means I'd have to go tomorrow as I doubt they'd have an apt today

Have they got any other symptoms or is it just the sneezing? As Wiebke said higher up thread, you would expect them to go off food, be less active, have noisy or rattle y breathing and basically be 'off' if they had a URI. Are u seeing any of that? How are there weights?
Just sneezing alone might be an environmental thing like dust from hay. Hope it goes well at vet and try not to worry so much
 
Thanks :) from what I can see they're all still eating, just put some hay in and they're all munching away. I couldn't hear any breathing problems where I stood, nor when I picked them up today from what I remember. I weigh them all at 10pm ish before they get their dinner -

The weights are all within the 30g that you have to allow for in order to account for a full/empty bladder and a full/empty tummy. There is no clear downwards trend. Take a deep breath!
 
I'd managed to get them in for Wednesday at 11:45am at Taverham, it's quite good actually for £32 for all three so got a health check for all. Forgot to ask for a guinea pig/small animal specialist so I'll have to ring back.
 
I think part of the problem may have been the hay. My hay from Tesco ran out so got some from B&M as I saw someone mention there was a good batch right now. When I compare it to the Tesco hay it's beautiful, very soft and green compared to the Tesco dry, yellow and a tad dusty
