My piggie Bradley seems to be sneezing quite a bit, he seems absolutely fine apart from that. He only used to do it in the cage so I thought maybe it was the woodshavings (although they are dust free) but now he's started sneezing during floor time. He's very bright and alert in himself and Barney isn't sneezing at all, just Bradley.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to get the vet involved unless I have to.

Guinea pigs can catch colds from humans, so has anyone been near him who has a cold?

Colds in guinea pigs can turn nasty, so if it was me I'd take him to the vet just to check that he is ok and healthy.

Guinea pigs do not catch colds from humans.

My girls have a odd sneeze most days, and they sound just like Donald Duck !

It's worth making a note of when the sneezing is at its worst. List the date, time, how long since you cleaned the cage, how long since you topped up the hay. Also consider if there's anything in the air that could be irritating him - air fresheners, dust etc.

Have you changed the bedding, switched the woodshavings to a different bedding?

An allergy is perfectly possible, especially as he is otherwise well and the sneezing has been going on for a while.

He's barely sneezed now in a couple of days so hopefully he's on the mend. Ever since Bradley & Barney have been with me they've been on the same brand of woodshavings, I clean them out once a day.
