Hello everybody, I was just wondering how much sneezing is too much sneezing, I know guinea pigs can occasionally sneeze when they get their noses in hay but earlier I just heard one of my piggy’s sneeze three times in a row! I’m not exactly sure which piggy it was but that really scared me and quite frankly I don’t think that’s normal, what could this be a sign of, both piggies are eating and drinking just fine, is this normal? Is there anything I need to know to reassure me that everything is okay?

Hi!

Piggies can get one-off sneezing fits if there is some irritation in the nose.

Sneezing as a potential symptom for a URI or a sensitivity means very frequent and regular sneezing (a LOT more than 3 sneezes!) over the course of several hours without any sign of stopping. ;)
What to check and look out for in new guinea pigs (vet checks, sexing, parasites&illness)

Okay, I’m in my room a lot and so I notice things, one thing I notice is that most times the sneezing is when they are eating hay or when they start to clean themselves, sometimes when my girl
Penny lies in her bed she won’t make a full blown sneezr just a little puff through the nose, they all seem healthy otherwise but I know piggies are experts at hiding illnesses😬😬

This all sounds very normal to me! :tu:

Just a very mild reaction to a little hay dust. Sneezing when cleaning is normal, too; it clears the nose of any hay dust.
