A few days ago, Spooks did a little sneeze, well, it was more like breathing heavily down his nose...sort of fffffh noise, Moop has started doing it today. Do you think they have a cold? Could it be the compressed shavings I'm using in their cage making them have an allergic reaction? Should I change it to something else?

Any help would be wonderful, I hope they don't need the vets!

Vicky xx

Fugly does this if he has hay stuck in his nose, sort of blows it out, could be something irritating their nostrils.

If they have no discharge from the nose they are prob ok but if you are worried get vet to check them out

Our Huxley sneezes a lot - plus he had a snotty nose. We think it was a hay allergy so he is on paper bedding now and has really imrpoed. All our pigs sneeze ocasinally 0 if it is the odd sneeze don't worry, but if the breathing sounds laboured then might be worth a trip to the vets to have their chest listened to.

Hi, Sorry that I'm using this to send my worries, it's just that i'm new to this and i have no idea what i'm doing haha!
I'm a bit worried about my little baby Murray, he's a Peruvian guinea pig (we think) and i got him from pets at home. He lives with another guinea pig called Pig, who we got the same day from the same enclosure.
I'm worried because i've had murray for nearly a week now, and ever since then, he has started to sneeze alot, also, he has what looks like dried snot on his nose (i'm slowly and gently wiping it off), but yeah, I'm very worried and already i'm very protective over him. does anyone know why this might be happening? x

Please have him checked by a vet ideally by tomorrow. It looks like he could have URI (upper respiratory tract infection), which is very common in stressed shop piggies.

PLEASE don't take him back to the shop and hand him over! You can ask for a refund of your independent vet bills from p@h.

Here is more information on URI: http://www.guinealynx.info/uri.html
