hi people.

well iv had the pigs now 5 weeks WOOHOOOOOOOOOO.

i just wanted to see what people thought of david as since having him he sneezes a lot and his eyes are generally watery. It doesnt seem to bother him, but i do notice that david sneezes a lot were as craig doesnt. David did have an eye infection which seems to of cleared up (it took a long time to dissappear), however, when i look at his eyes they are a bit watery but I'm wondering is this not just david as a pig and this is the way he is.

Any ideas i would be grateful. I makesure he gets lots of hay, unlimited pellets as he is 15 weeks old and 50g of veg in two servings a day and fresh water everyday. I guess i was wondering if there is anything i could do to help him with his little sneezes x

It could be that he's just very sensitive to allergens like dust and pollen. For around the same length of time one of my sows has been having some minor issues, no problems before and she's not deteriorated at any stage. Just these hayfever symptoms.

As long as it's not affecting him otherwise (i.e. he is still eating and behaving normally), just monitor him, keep up with the weekly weight checks and take things as they come. If he seems worse at any particular time, make a note of the situation - e.g. date, time, days since last cage clean, time since hay/bedding was topped up, if windows were open/pigs have been outdoors etc. - it may help to pinpoint what he's sensitive to. You may notice he's worse when you top up the hay, for example.

hi laura,

thats an interesting point you have made because i have tried them with some bunny green hay that i got as a tester and he has been sneezing much more since i put that in. its not dusty or anything, but i wonder if its that that is causing it x
