My partner and I went to say hello to Snufkin yesterday morning (everything's a bit chaotic at the moment, we've just bought a house so his cage is in a bit of a weird place, it's a windy road to see him) and noticed that he'd suddenly developed a head tilt over night.
He seemed to be eating fine, he wheeked for hay and happily munched on a carrot, but when not being given food he was chattering his teeth so he was obviously in discomfort. Poor thing, he couldn't run properly and was totally off-balance.
We took him to the vet ASAP and she reckons that he has an inner ear infection (which was my guess), so now he has anti-biotics for seven days (Baytril I think?) She said I could either dilute it in his water, or give it straight to him in his mouth. I chose the latter, just to make sure that he's getting it all.
He's wonderfully well-behaved, obviously he doesn't like it but it's not too much trouble to get him to take it, and giving him veg afterwards seems to make him forget about the ordeal quickly enough.
He actually seems a bit better today, but all well wishes are appreciated!
I tried to make a video of me medicating him, but it was a bit fiddly so you can't see much. rolleyes (But you can see how cute he is.)
