I'm in the UK, guineas live outside and always have. At what temperature do others use a snuggle safe heat pad at night? They have literally mountains of hay and a double walled sleeping area in their hutch. Please not comments from all those who have them live inside as that doesn't help 🤣

When I had outdoor piggies, they had their snugglesafes when it got below 10 degrees at night although they rarely used them at that temperature, I felt reassured they still had them in their hutch if they felt a bit chilly x

This is a very useful thread for me to read. It has been getting really cold in the shed here in Somerset so I am considering getting snuggle safes and a microwave to heat them in.

Does anyone have any idea of a decent microwave? I have never used one.

Just got the cheapest that I could find at currys. Russell hobbs because I have heard of them!

Should be here by tuesday. Will be a relief to know that they are warm. Must get a ss for Moondust as well.

I used to keep piggies outside and now they are in the garage. I use snugglesafes when the temperature is below 10°C.

They all have snuggle safes! Sadly they do not last 10 hours. They were cold after 7 hours today (I give them at night and in the morning).

Shimmer was lying on hers this morning. I tried to get a pic tonight but she moved away when she herd the shed door opening! Still a pretty cute picture of her mind you.

So cute!
No unfortunately they don’t last 10 hours outside. I time adding them at night to make the most of it over the coldest parts of the night and then warm them up as soon as you can in the morning.

I did a lovely big clean out today and put the snuggle safes in. Both the guinea pigs stayed firmly hidden! Moondust was out and about. Excuse the mdf with a big damp stripe. It was used as an inner wall on the shed, but the shed had holes in, hence the damp.

Moondust likes it against her (doorless) hutch for extra protection from the cold.

Snuggle safes that I did two at a time didn't last for more than 4 and a half hours. Moondust's one which I do on it's own was still warm as was the stone hot water bottle (wrapped in fleece and inside a zipped cushion cover).

More stone hot water bottles are on the shopping list!
