My mum has informed me yesterday, after following the instructions to the letter, that one of our snuggle safes has developed a hole in it whilst being heated in the microwave. She got burned quite bad as the stuff ran out of it and set hard on her hand when she got it out. So please can people be really careful when heating snuggle safes, I'm not so enthusiastic about using them now, and definately wont let anyone else heat them up as they're my pigs and I don't want someone else hurt because of the welfare of my pigs. I just wanted to let everyone know what happened as I'm quite upset by it. Imagine if she didn't notice the hole (we usually leave them in the covers to heat them up) and one of the pigs got burnt?! It would've set solidly on them and they'd probably die from the shock! It's best to make sure the area they live in is heated, than relying on the snuggle safes. I know this is something I could get told off for saying, but I thought it needed to be said. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Gosh :o I do hope your mum is OK. Is it possible that she could have overheated it by mistake as I know the snugglesafe can damaged like this if it is overheated?
I always heat mine out of the cover so I can double check it and heat it for a few seconds less than the recommended time stated just to make sure. Also, snugglesafe suggest that they are replaced once every 3 years however, mine have been used so much this winter I shall probably replace them sooner.

I think it maybe a replacement issue. I told her to heat them for about the same time that is on the instructions, but it's a lower wattage microwave! it was the first one she went to heat, so she knows she didn 't put it in twice. I thought I'd put it on here as it looks mightily painful. She'll be ok, but the piggies wouldn't be!

Oh, I put that the snuggle safes were heated in the covers, I got that wrong, my mum says she does it without the covers on! LOL! My bad. But still the warning's just in my opinion. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry to hear about your mum, hope she is ok. It could be worth contacting the people who make the snugglesafes to make them aware of this.:(

hope your mums hand heals ok funnily enough i have used the snugglesafes more for period pain than my piggies

lol! good use for them though. better than a normal hot water bottle. be careful though honey, you dont want a burnt tummy. x

I hope your mum is ok :(
I would contact the manufacturer as it must be faulty.
I have been using them for years for the dogs and heat them all up one after the other every night during the winter and never had a problem with any of them

We've had them two winters, but only used them this winter too. I think you're right, I'll see if I can contact snuggle safe tomorrow, not because I want a refund, but to let them know as it could've been a nasty accident. x

BUMP want people to see this. xxxxx stay safe with your snuggle safe people xxxxxxxx

Your poor Mum. I hope she's okay. Sounds like that's one painful burn.

Thanks for the warning. I was thinking of replacing mine, as it's gone out of shape now.
I'll be sure that I'm extra careful when I get my new ones. I don't want my piggies, or anyone else getting hurt.
We can recover but something like that could kill a piggy. :(
