:cen:As most of you know i bought a new piggie i called Bluebell i rescued her and left her hutch mate at the rescue as i wasnt sure i would have room for all 4. Today after sorting out hutches i went back and got bluebells hutch mate also an agouti. I wanted them to put with my 2 babies,so Bluebell has been in with the girls for 3 days. I hadnt handled her till today as i wanted her to settle in. When i got home today with the other piggie i did check her,i have done such a stupid thing, not checking their sexes before bringing them home trusted the staff,i have 2 boys, which isnt a problem except the one has been in with my girls. Is 3 days enough for a mating? I am so upset and angry, please someone tell me its not possible.

Ouch!

How old are your babies?

Don't be angry with yourself - if the rescue told you they were both girls then I don't blame you for trusting them.

Its not looking good honey. Female piggies can get pregnant from as early as 4 weeks and 3 days is more than enough to get them in that state. I would imagine it would depend on their seasons but I think you are going to have to treat them as pregnant until proven otherwise.

Sorry I cant tell you what you want to hear.

Oh no! Which rescue was it? Guinea pigs can get pregnant from three weeks so she could well be. Did the rescue tell you boars are best kept in pairs?

Don't beat yourself up about it.You trusted the rescue. You will just have to wait and see. They are in good hands with you

Its a local pet centre, they take in piggies people no longer want,i should of known better,i used to have piggies before i had them for 4 years,i checked every new one i took in. These 2 were so scared they havent been handled at all so i trusted what they told me and just bought them home to settle in first.

It's generally recommended to have a two week isolation period before introducing new pigs to your current ones which gives time for settling in and more importantly any health problems should reveal themselves so nothing is passed on. It's unfortunate that you didn't check him over beforehand but not much you can do now apart from wait and see. You may be lucky but read the threads in the Pregnancy and labour section so you're prepared just in case.
