Just been told by a friend that I know nothing about guinea pigs as I have not kept
them long enough, that males never badly fight that this is made up by forums, they can live alone, if they are ill and not eating you don't have to syringe feed this again is made up by people on forums. They don't need hay all the time etc etc sorry to rant but her guineas lived in a tiny zoozone until I gave her a cage never get hay or come out and she always has a go at me about mine just feel really pi:rant: as this has been going on for ages never wanted to have a go about her on here just in case i ever talked her in to joining but feel so mad that she questions my animal care

Not surprised you are mad, she sounds completely clueless.

When all her poor piggies die on her then maybe she will learn. From what you say the poor things will pass away sooner rather than later. From what I have experienced here of you, you are seeking advice, support and reg trying to be the best piggie mum you can be. Ignore your friend she sounds like an imbecile. No offense meant. X

Thank you .Its not like me to rant. I have always believed animals are like kids, we might all do things differently with them but as long as our goal is to do our best that's fine but to be told you are a idiot because you seek advice at times is not on and that they have kept guineas for years and never had a problem drives me mad. For someone who never rants I am doing it again :lol!:

:mal: Can see where you are coming from... sounds like the sort of person that would get pregnant, have kids then wonder why there is no instruction manual... probably too dozy & selfish to read it even if there was one, fancy having a go at you when she obviously has absolutely no idea herself, (i also think your posts are sensible, relevant & worthwhile too). :tu:

Why do people this ignorant have pets if they are not prepared to care for them properly.:hb:

Paint a pair of eyes on a pebble & tell her you'll do her a swap.... her guinea's for your pet rock, low maintenance & eats no hay whatsoever!!

Grrr! xx

A lot of people who have kept pets for years often feel they know everything there is to know and that they're experts. I had a friend who felt like that with her pets but she soon realised that she still had a lot to learn when she had difficulties with them. Thankfully she took my advice and found a relevant forum to get advice but even now I don't think she looked into it further than the behaviour issues and so for all she know she may still be doing things wrong! I stay out of it though as I know nothing about the pets she keeps. I'm just glad I was the first to get gps as I think she would probably have just got a p@h pair and took the advice of the shop staff thinking it must be right if the staff said it!

I know it's hard when you have such disagreements with friends but try to just forget it, you know you're doing the best by your piggies and by the sounds of it her mind's not for changing! I find sometimes it's just easier to bite your tongue with some people and where possible just slip into conversations how you care for your piggies like 'oh, I'll need to get hay soon - can't let it run out for them' or something and hopefully the message gets through subliminally!

As soon as I got my first guinea I found out as much as i could about him don't get me wrong I am still new to all this and not perfect but with all my animals I do my best. I will take advice from anyone and enjoy learning about animal care what I really feel strongly about is been attacked just for the sake of it . I find that very hurtful. If I ever give advice I always try to do so in a kind manner. To be honest i lost my temper with her and I can be quite nasty when pushed and I was but for once don't feel guilty about it .
