So confused... Please help!

Hi,
So if you have seen some of my recent threads you might know that my guinea pig Lily's poops have been very small. I weighed her, it's normal, in fact she's a little overweight. She has no problem eating at all and in fact is the guinea pig that eats most of the hay. I had come up with a couple reasons of why her poops might have been small and I was wondering if you could confirm if any of these could be the causes.

1. We were at the last of our hay this week and it wasn't as long as usual and a little harder to get
2. Our house has gotten cooler- outside it is -45 celsius. But I did put a space heater in the room.

If those were the reasons, how long would it take for her poops to get normal now that i've fixed them.

I would also like to add that I haven't taken her to the vet. Our vet is very far away and my poor Lily gets very spooked. It is also so cold outside that I don't want to bring her outside at all.

Have you tried probiotics? Could be an off balanced gut flora.

Could try poop soup if you have another healthy guinea pig to take poos from. ( fresh moist looking poos)

Or try pro c from pets at home

Or fiberplex from a vet, over the counter

What is poop soup?

Its healthy guinea pig poops, mushed up into water to create a poo soup. Then syringe it into your pig you are having trouble with. Best way, but not a great taste for your pig. But choose fresh looking poos from another guinea pig if you have one.

I agree that giving a probiotic or poo soup will do no harm

Have you checked for bloating? Not necessarily a full-on severe bloat, but minor bloating issues which do not necessarily lead to a very tight drum like belly. The gas will add to the extra weight.
Bloat, GI Stasis ( No Gut Movement) And Not Eating

I would recommend to give her some probiotics and/or 'poo soup' - that is abolutely freshly laid (ideally just dropped off) from a healthy companion that you soak in very little water; then you syringe the water. It mimics natural behaviour and will help restock the guts with healthy gut fauna. But it is only effective when it is freshly made.

I agree that you should not venture outside with your piggy unless it is an absolute life or death emergency in the current extreme US polar vortex weather.

Thank you for sending my thoughts on the vet. The whole state where I live has canceled school for the next two days. They say that frostbite can occur in less then two minutes. I will try the poop soup. She seems perfectly healthy other then the poop.
