Is it silly to be so excited to have them take veggies from my hand for the first time? 😊 Everyday I go in and say girls are you ready for your veggies so they know they are coming and for the first time tonight baby Aria came right up to the cage opening and when I offered her some lettuce she took it from me and ran off with it. Alisa is still shy and hiding in her little house but now you can see her little nose poking out so I help some lettuce by the opening and she took it, I was so happy 😊

Not silly at all. It’s lovely when you reach any milestone with a piggy. When they trust you enough to take food from you it’s precious. Well done x.
I’ve had a pair of long term fosters for a couple of months and one has been pretty invisible - I have only seen a flash of bum as she flees when I enter the room. But just this week twice she has sat and looked at me for a few moments before fleeing. I am so proud of her. It’s a huge step for her.

It makes you so proud of them, I knew it was going to take time and a lot of patience with Alisa as I was advised her previous human had just used her and let her breed constantly but so mega chuffed with her progress already ā¤ļø

I think I literally danced around the room the first time Merlin and Arthur took food from me, and felt like I was on Cloud 9. I was so happy, so, no, it's definitely not silly to be excited. It really does show they're feeling safer, happier, and trusting you!Every milestone and new achievement is just so rewarding!

... until they start wheeking at you every time you go in the room, and get louder and louder, because, oi, human, give us our food! šŸ˜‚

Congrats! It’s thrilling isn’t it? It’s those little moments that we treasure. One of my pigs is blind in one eye, nervous and daft and she’s just started coming out of her shell recently (even though she’s been with me 2+ years šŸ™„) and I find it exciting even now! She’d becoming a lot braver and I’m like a proud mum, I bet that’s how you’re feeling right now! :D

Enjoy it! 😁 I’m so chuffed when my girls let me stroke them now. And when I go to pick up one of the boys and he DOESN’T RUN AWAY! šŸ’ƒ and on the occasions when the girls take the food from my hand and don’t go hide to eat.

They’re all exciting milestones so be proud of the progress you’re making. They obviously are warming to you 😊

As said prepare for the incessant wheeking at feeding time!, and when you rustle any plastic bag...or open the fridge šŸ™„šŸ¤£

This must be a cue for a ā€œSpecial momentsā€ thread.
I have really enjoyed everyone’s stories - they’re so heartwarming and encouraging.

Not silly at all. It's a great and amazing feeling when your piggies trust you.
It's fantastic that your piggies are responding to you so quickly, particularly if their previous owner just used them.
They must feel safe with you and that's great. Treasure each memory.xx

I'm actually looking forward to the wheeking šŸ˜‚

That's so sweet ā¤
We actually adopted them because my daughter nagged for months and months for some guinea
pigs but I've spent so many months reading up about them so I'd be prepared that when we finally brought them home I keep calling them my girls lol
