I wondered why my piggies water bottle hadn't gone down. I realised that something was clogged up in it and they had gone without water for many weeks! I replaced the spout and Maisy Moo immediately drunk 100ml non stop. I'm not sure about Poppy though. I'm such a bad piggy Mum. This has taught me a valueable lesson.

Emily, you are FAR from a bad piggy mum! *hugs* These things happen, and yes they make us feel awful, but it's not because you are a bad mum or don't love and look after your pigs. It's because you are human, just like the rest of us. We all make mistakes. It's fixed now, no harm done. They'll have got plenty of water from their veggies too! Please don't feel bad!
 
Maybe in the future you could check the bottle spout every few days? If you touch it and the water comes through. If you coat the veg in water, and not prepare it the night before then they should be ok with water from that. Just keep an eye on their poos, as I'm just thinking if there's any dehydration, look for abnormal 'tear dropped, pitted poo, smaller in size' I'm sure it's done no harm though :)
 
:agr: with above posters - don't blame yourself .

I have 2 water bottles so, if one has a problem, at least they have the other bottle to drink from.
 
aww .. these things happen.. When i refill my water bottles i always squirt a bit out to make sure it comes out ok as i know they don't always drink lots..
 
I have just had the same thing happen to me, I think it was a week as I know I changed the water, but do not remember doing the quirt test. Now my pigs are not drinking at all even though they have a new bottle. I keep tapping it and offering it to them, but in 2 days I have not seen neither one drink, now my older one is being treated for a suspected UTI :( I feel so bad, so you are not alone.
 
I woke up one morning to find a bottle empty I use Bunny size... The ball bearing had gone and it had leaked. Poe was sooo thirsty bless him. These things happen. It doesn't make you a bad piggy mom x
